Julius Debrah: Isaac, who do you think is winning this year’s election?
Me: NPP is winning. Even me, it’s not possible for me not to vote for Nana Addo this term.
Julius Debrah: You are the one who has told me the truth. I have a feeling Ghanaians won’t keep us beyond the 8 years.
He didn’t try to argue or take issue with me; he appreciated my sincerity.
On that day, I respected this man.
I have worked with a number of politicians, done polls for them. In all, I’ve done 12 polls, and I have never predicted wrongly.
One MP, I told him not to contest because he had no chance of winning. He took offense because his party boys gave him a different report. He even started avoiding me.
He went all out for the primaries and lost miserably. All his money went into it. Right after, his son had cancer, and the man became completely broke. This is a teacher who was pushed by his people to be an MP. After one year in opposition, he was so broke that one day, he flashed me to call him.
There are not many people who tell politicians the truth because most people can’t take the truth. However, when you have someone like Hon. Julius Debrah, who embraces the truth because he lives in reality, you have a great leader.
Since that day, he earned my respect, and if one day he gets to lead a political party, I’ll mount platforms to campaign for him.
A leader with an ear for the truth has a heart to do right.
And this is the Chief of Staff of the NDC who would say, “Pay the Oman FM reporter as much as you’d pay the Radio Gold reporter.”
He was loved by the media for a reason.
Today, I have made intention apparent that I’m for change and some tiny individuals with zero influence think they can insult me out of speaking up. Funny!
Even when bread was at stake, we stood for the truth.
